Drexel in London
Spending a term in London as a study abroad student is an unforgettable experience. The city is the #1 destination for study abroad for a reason; it has so much to offer! London is the home to world famous arts, theater, night life, music, literature, architecture, royalty, and a storied history. With the most universities in the world, London is a perfect city for students.
This program is open to all majors, fits into the Drexel calendar, and is offered every term.
Drexel has partnered with the Foundation for International Education (FIE), a London-based study abroad organization, to run this program. FIE is based in South Kensington, a historic and charming area of London. Classes are taught in the Foundation House, which is a Victorian House converted into classroom space. The classrooms are named after English celebrities that are from Kensington!

Courses are taught by both Drexel and British faculty and students take four courses from a variety of disciplines. Courses are designed to take advantage of London and offer students a unique opportunity to internationalize their education. Each course typically includes field trips to give students full exposure to the many aspects of London.
Students will take 4 courses, each worth 4.5 credits for a total of 18 Drexel credits. All grades are letter grades and will count towards the GPA at Drexel.

Winter Internship Track
Students in the internship track take courses while fulfilling an unpaid internship in London. Internships are available in a wide variety of industries. This is the perfect way to experience London in an academic way while gaining work experience. Students applying for this track must have GPA of 3.25 and submit a resume with their application.
Students take the following 2 courses:
COM T380 British Life & Culture
BUSN T380 International Internship Class
Students choose 2 of the following 3 courses:
IAS T380 Islam & the West
COM T380 Media in Britain
FIN 301 Fundamentals of Finance
London internship completed while taking other courses. Students earn 14-15 credits total in this track.
Grading
Students are graded by British and American faculty. Grades are noted as letter grades and will count towards the cumulative GPA.
The London program runs on the quarter calendar, and most terms reflect the Drexel calendar.

Which term works best for me?
Certain Drexel majors have a specific term that has been pre-selected by their department as the best term to participate (see below). If your major is not listed below, we encourage you to meet with your academic advisor to discuss the best options and most suitable term for you.
Design & Merchandising - summer term junior year

Nursing & Health Professions - spring term sophomore, pre-junior, junior year
Music Industry (Business Track) - spring term junior year

Dance - summer term
Dormitory-style bedrooms and several suites, with shared kitchens on each floor, private bathrooms in most cases, and a common area on the ground floor for lounging around on those rainy London afternoons. There are kitchens on each floor equipped with a microwave, pots, pans, dishes, etc. Students will generally be placed two or three to a room. All residence halls have wifi and 24/7 access to the computer lab. Students studying on other university programs will also be living in this building, providing for a nice mix of interests to your living situation.

FIE UK visa guide to determine whether you need a visa, pre-entry clearance, or a Tier 4 visa. American and Canadian citizens do not need a visa for this program. Students with other nationalities should confirm with the
British Embassy website to confirm visa requirements.
Students should not fly through Ireland to get to London, or there can be major visa issues.
Program Costs
Program Fee: $5,845 (2015-16 cost, 2016-17 TBD)

Not included in Program Fee:
Tuition (will be the same as your normal Drexel tuition), airfare, meals, books, lab fee (for some courses, to offset costs of tickets for the theatre, music performances, etc.)This is a Drexel sponsored program, thus all of your Drexel tuition and financial aid remain the same during your term abroad. For more information, please consult the budget sheet. Students who receive Federal Work Study should consider applying for the Study Abroad Online Journalist work study position (after acceptance).
Scholarships
To seek additional funding, review the Scholarship & Funding Opportunities. Remember that scholarship deadlines may be much earlier than study abroad deadlines, so plan accordingly. Students may also want to submit a revised budget to the Financial Aid Office to see if additional funding may be available.
Sharif Rahman Memorial Scholarship: FIE established the Sharif Rahman Scholarship program in 2003, in memory of their late Chairman. The $1,000 scholarship is open to Drexel students during the fall and summer terms.
