Drexel in Berlin + London: Dual City Summer

The Berlin + London Dual City program allows Drexel students to experience two European capital cities in one term! Through this unique opportunity, students spend 3-4 weeks in Berlin and 5 weeks in London, taking courses in each city for a total of 17-19 credits. The program is open to all Business and Economics majors or minors, and International Area Studies majors with an interest in Business. There is no language prerequisite, and students will have the opportunity to learn beginning German language as part of the program. The program is run in partnership with the Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) in Berlin and the Foundation for International Education (FIE) in London.
Students will be greeted in both cities by local support staff for orientation, which includes tours and other activities.
Course Availability
Courses are available in the following subjects:
Berlin Session 1
Students will choose from three distinct program tracks:
Track 1: The European Union in a Global World (10 credits, 4 weeks)
Earn BUSN 481 (8 credits) and LANG 180 (2 credits)
Track 2: European Business and Economics Programme (10 credits, 4 weeks)
Earn BUSN 481 (8 credits) and LANG 180 (2 credits)
Track 3: Markets and Management in Europe (8 credits, 3 weeks)
Earn BUSN 481 (6 credits) and LANG 180 (2 credits)
Track 4: Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management (8 credits, 3 weeks)
EARN ENTP T480 (6 credits) and LANG 180 (2 credits)
All tracks in Berlin include beginning level German language, as well as weekly academic excursions to companies and political institutions in the region.
London Session 2
Students select 2 of the following courses:
1. MKTG 344 Professional Personal Selling (4.5 credits)
2. CULA 465 Food, Society, & Culture in Britain (4.5 credits)
3. ARTH 300 History of Modern Design (4.5 credits)
4. VSCM 465 History and Practice of Typography (4.5 credits)
All courses in London incorporate local site visits for a hands-on learning experience.
Grading
Students who choose Track 1 or 2 will receive 19 total Drexel credits; students who choose Track 3 will receive 17 total Drexel credits for the program. All students will receive Drexel letter grades for this program. Classes are taught by local faculty in both Berlin and London, giving a very international perspective to your studies!

*Note: Orientation for Session 2 in London begins on Friday, July 29. Students therefore have a 6 day break (from July 23 - 29) between cities. Students may use this time to travel independently OR will have to arrange for accommodations in either city during the break at a hotel or hostel.
Berlin: Students will live in a three-star hotel in the center of Berlin in the western part of the city. All rooms have an en suite bathroom and a kitchenette and are furnished with a desk, chair, TV, air conditioning and two single beds. Each room also provides a locker, hair dryer, towels, linen, free WIFI and personal care products. The kitchenette provides a coffee machine, water boiler, microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge and dishes.
London: Students will live in dormitory-style residence halls that include fully equipped kitchens on each floor and private bathrooms in most cases. All residence halls have wireless internet access. Please note the official move-in date listed in program calendar above. Students may use the break week for independent travel prior to London arrival/move-in.
US citizens are not required to obtain a visa for this program. Other nationalities should check with the German and UK Embassies to confirm visa requirements.
Payment Schedule:
Payment 1 Advance Payment: $500 due with application by March 1st. Applications are not complete until the advance payment is received (check payable to Drexel). Advance payments are refundable ONLY in the event that a student is not accepted to the program.
Payment 2 due after acceptance by April 1st:

Tracks 1 & 2: $700
Track 3: $520
Payment 3: $2,475 balance will be billed to student account (eBill) at the start of summer term
Included in the program fee:
-Berlin accommodation with breakfast
-London accommodation
-Class study trips and site visits in both cities
-5 week local transportation pass for London
-Mandatory German health, accident, and liability insurance for Berlin session
-Mandatory Drexel emergency medical & evacuation insurance
-Most parts of the optional “culture and leisure” program in Berlin
-Onsite staff support in both cities
NOT included in program fee:
-Round trip airfare
-Transportation from Berlin to London
-Meals (except breakfast in Berlin)
-Books, miscellaneous expenses
-Spending money/ personal expenses
Financial Aid
Financial aid applies for this program. Students are billed their normal Drexel tuition and keep all financial aid during their term abroad. The study abroad program fee will be billed to students’ Drexel accounts. If you receive Federal Work Study, consider applying for the Study Abroad Online Journalist work study position (only available to students after accepted into the program).
Scholarships
To seek additional funding, review the Scholarship & Funding Opportunities. Students who receive Federal Pell Grant should apply for the Gilman Scholarship. Remember that scholarship deadlines may be much earlier than study abroad deadlines, so plan accordingly.?
